Who We Are
Destination Footsteps provides digital, GPS-enabled self-guided audio tours. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have over it.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor's IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images that include embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website may be able to download and extract any location data from images on the site.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies for your convenience, so you do not have to fill in your details again when leaving another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, a temporary cookie will be set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, several cookies will be set to save your login information and screen display preferences. Login cookies last for two days, and screen option cookies last for one year. If you select "Remember Me," your login will persist for two weeks. Logging out of your account will remove the login cookies.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie contains no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after one day.
Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content such as videos, images, or articles. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if you had visited those websites directly.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content — including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who We Share Your Data With
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. We do not sell personal data to third parties.
How Long We Retain Your Data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This helps us recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users who register on our website, we store the personal information provided in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Your Rights Over Your Data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you may request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You may also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include data we are obliged to retain for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
GDPR & CCPA Compliance
If you are located in the European Union or California, you have additional rights regarding your personal data:
Access & Portability: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction & Deletion: You may request corrections to your data or ask that we delete it, subject to certain exceptions required by law.
Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing: We do not sell personal data. If data is shared with third parties for processing (such as analytics or spam detection), it is done only to provide essential site functionality.
Right to Withdraw Consent: If you have previously consented to the use of cookies or data collection, you may withdraw that consent at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information below. We will respond to your request within the time required by applicable law.
